Connections recognizes the need for a shorter edition of Connections that is les focused on personal growth and includes only the classified ads and a few other interesting tidbits, submitted by Connections readers.
Here with Connections, we would like to give something to everyone. We want it to be a work of the readers, so remember to keep an
open mind and jump in with your own submissions to Connections.
Take some time and find an inspiration , today!
Then share who you’ve found
And go on your own personal journey to find your gifts and strengths. There are many inspirational people and teachers introduced and you should be able to find something that resonates with you.
Each month we will share with you stories, and information on the individuals that have set their sights on inspiring!
the people just like us, who have lost their physical sight, but, not their vision. that keep us going and growing as not only blind and visually impaired individuals,
but also as able and active individuals.
Please send information on these individuals that you know of, so we can share them here or tell us about yourself and why you are such an inspiration!
As before mentioned in Connections, often it helps to find an inspiration to get us past difficult challenges. Sometimes this is a person or group who seems to surpass all possibilities and yet are known to be just ordinary people like you or me.
One such group is the American Blind Skiiers Foundation.
Some may say…how in the world are blind people able to ski….and why would they want to?
Good question.
Here is the answer.
THE AMERICAN BLIND SKIING FOUNDATION is a non-profit organization chartered in the State of Illinois. Since the 70’s ABSF has been changing the lives of its blind skiers, helping them focus on what they can do instead of what they can not.
Many blind skiers have commented that ….”IF I CAN SKI, I CAN DO ANYTHING”.
ABSF provides an educational downhill skiing program that is open to any blind or visually impaired person, child through adult. If they can get into skis we’ll work with them.
ABSF gives them the opportunities and experiences that build confidence and independence that can last a lifetime.
What else does the visually impaired person get out of skiing: KNOWLEDGE that they have challenged themselves in a non-traditional area for VI; FUN- the speed and rush that comes from flying down the hill is indescribable; SOCIAL INTERACTION- sitting down with other skiers and sharing the excitement and adventure of skiing. Oh, did I mention that sighted guides for the blind have just as much fun?
• Donate Tax deductible CONTRIBUTIONS to help ABSF operate.
Convinced yet? Try it…you’ll like it. ABSF welcomes everyone
For more information on how you can help support visually impaired children and adults through ABSF,visit our website at

From The Editor
Hello everyone!,
I have a rather big announcement to make!
As I announced a couple of months ago, I am set to make a move to England in February. The plan is to get married within 6 months, as my visa requires, but there is a little problem. The United Kingdom does not allow anyone immigrating to the country on a fiancee visa to work until the marriage takes place. I will be unable to have a job and draw an income for a while.
For this reason, I will be turning the classifieds part of the magazine over to another editor.
The looking For … section will remain in our publication and will remain as it has always been … free.
I will add a new resources section, which will include all new links and resources that have been added to EverythingBlind.com for that month. In this way I hope to continue providing you with useful information and also let you know about our additions on EverythingBlind.com.
The name will be changed to Inspirations For EverythingBlind as I will continue to make inspiration the focus of our newsletter.
You will also continue to receive your monthly Belly Laugh, Inspirational Quotes, and of course the helpful hints that I try to provide. Again, remember that Connections/Inspirations is a work of the readers and I urge you to send your suggestions and feedback.
We wish many more of you to send in your contributions so EverythingBlind and Inspirations can be a real place to Connect with what you want and need.
Also remember to send your links of the sites you most visit so they can be added to EverythingBlind.com and Inspirations.
EverythingBlind.com
Because of this change, I will be running a special on advertising with Connections. From now until January 1st, all 50 word ads will be $5 and will run until the change takes place. There will be no more first month free, but, remember that your add will always continue to show online in our archives as long as EverythingBlind is in existence.
I understand that some of you may not wish to be subscribed to both publications and I do not wish to give away your addresses to anyone you do not know, so it is requested at this time that if you wish to stay subscribed to the classifieds only edition with the new editor, please reply to this email right now and your name will be added to the list that I will pass on to the new editor.
If I do not receive a reply from you, you will receive only the new publication of Inspirations For EverythingBlind and will no longer receive the classifieds section.
If you have any questions, please contact me at:
HeidiHockman@comcast.net
Thank you, very, very much for your understanding in this matter.
Warmly,
Heidi Hockman

Looking for help in finding a particular individual
I am in Macedonia. 10 years ago, I studied in the U.S. After coming home, I was in contact with a particular blind individual who was helping me acquire some information about university scholarships for international students. I got his address from Labina and Teona Mitevski, two Macedonian sisters involved with Macedonian movie production, and I believe they got to know about him by a common friend of theirs called Goran. I believe that this blind individual was either English or American and I believe he is in his 30s now. He studied at Oxford 10 years or more ago and that he was pursuing a very unusual degree in history or architecture. If he is reading this magazine, or if anyone thinks they know him, please contact me. I would really like to get back in touch with him.

1. When sending an ad by email, please place a before and after your ad in the message. This will ensure that only the ad itself is
included in Connections. If you have a personal phone number or email address in your signature you do not wish to share with the

2. Before sending in your ad, please read the information that appears at the end of every Connections.)issue. You will then be more

3. When contacting Connections please make a note in the subject line pertaining to your inquiry or submission. This will ensure that
your message is not deleted as spam.
Submissions
1. Contest submissions should be no longer than 700 words.
2. When submitting literary pieces, please keep in mind that the readership of Connections is world wide and general in nature.
Please, no adult or explicit material.
3. Please send your submission in the body of an email, along with the attached document, preferably in Microsoft Word format.
Double spacing is not necessary.
4. Please be aware that in print, there are two spaces between sentences. This is because print is much smaller than Braille and
therefore needs the extra space for ease in reading.
Submit Your Literary Work To Connections!
Do you write poetry? How about short stories or articles on varying subjects of general interest? Do Do you travel to out of the way
places? Do you enjoy writing jokes and humorous pieces? Many small publishers cannot pay large sums of money, and some do not pay
at all, but this doesn't make them less useful to begin building up your portfolio of published works. When the time comes to submit your
piece for paid publication, you'll have lots of clips from various publications to present to editors.
Connections is one of those small non paying publications at the moment. The copyright remains your own, so you can publish any of
your works elsewhere. I am especially interested in blind and visually impaired writers, but not exclusively. I hope to hear from
you soon.
